Adey SteelShop supports exciting new low carbon home development in Oxfordshire
Adey SteelShop has added the finishing touches to a new sustainable property development in Oxfordshire.
The award-winning steel fabrication and processing specialist was appointed by the developer to manufacture and supply a series of galvanised walk-on balconies as part of the fit out for the low carbon homes in Hook Norton.
The community-led project, which is being supported by TV presenter and architectural designer Charlie Luxton, will see 12 affordable homes built in the village to the south of Banbury. Each home will be fitted with solar panels, connected to a microgrid and battery storage facility. There will also be an electric car-sharing scheme and charging points as well as a communal garden, vegetable patch and natural planting to increase biodiversity. The development is due to be completed in the first half of 2024.
Adey SteelShop has been busy working on a number of sustainable projects in recent months. It helped create a Solar Car Park for 400 cars at the Eastbourne District General Hospital while also becoming the first company in its sector to launch its own Carbon Reduction Plan. The plan provides a road map for the company to achieve Net Zero by 2050 at the latest. It has already installed ETL-certified LED lighting and switched its vehicle fleet to hybrid or electric vehicles (EVs) only. Adey SteelShop, part of the Adey Steel Group, is currently exploring the time scales for installing replacement windows as well as moving to electric boilers to further boost energy efficiency at the head office.
