Adey SteelShop helps create Solar Car Park
Adey SteelShop has helped create a new solar car park in East Sussex.
The Loughborough-based steel fabrication and processing specialists were appointed by 3ti, the UK’s leading provider of EV solar car parks, to manufacture, supply and install over 110 tonnes of steel to form the canopies for over 400 car parking spaces at the Eastbourne District General Hospital.
The project, which came online earlier this year, then saw 3ti utilise its unique ‘3t’ approach to integrate local mains electricity with solar power and EV charge points to deliver clean, consistent solar energy for the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust whilst providing fast charging EV points for staff working at the hospital. The solar car park is expected to provide 1,000MWh of electricity to the hospital when fully operational, helping to cut the Trusts’ energy bills through the use of renewable energy.
Andrew Adey, Managing Director of the Adey Steel Group, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have worked with 3ti to help deliver this substantial solar energy project for the Eastbourne District General Hospital.
“It’s even more satisfying for the Adey Steel Group given our own drive through our Carbon Reduction Plan to become a carbon neutral business by 2050 in line with the UK Government target.”
