1925

Harry Adey founded the ironmonger’s shop at 7a Nottingham Road in Loughborough with the help of his wife May Adey.

1931

A small workshop was purchased at the back of the existing shop to carry out small scale fabrication. Arthur Adey joined his Mother and Father in the business at the age of 15.

1945

The business supported the war effort through steel fabrications of army equipment. After returning from the war in 1945 Jack Adey joined his brother Arthur in the company. County Shows were attended to promote the company.

1952

The post war boom in industry saw growth for the business in hosiery machinery, farming equipment and specialist ironmongery.

1962

Arthur’s son Garry joined the business further supporting the growth of the company. The business began fabricating and installing construction steelwork for the building trade.

1970

Supply to the construction industry now began to grow. Small steel structures, fire escapes and builders’ beams were amongst the products supplied.

1980

Jack's son Raymond joined the business to complete the arrival of the 3rd generation. The ironmongery and steel fabrication divisions saw independent development as did the expansion of the site installation teams.

1990

The divisions de-merged to form two separate companies. The steel fabrication side took the name Adey Steel Ltd and under the control of Garry and Arthur Adey quickly, established itself as one of the UK’s leading steel fabricators.

2001

The business relocates to its current site and Garry’s son Andrew joined the business as the 4th generation. Adey SteelShop Ltd was formed to service the housebuilding trades with the supply and installation of architectural and structural.

2009

Adey SteelShop became the fabricator of choice for many local, regional and national housebuilders gaining a solid reputation and appropriate accreditations in the process. Key appointments were made to strengthen the team and provide industry specific expertise.

 

2015

The business conducted a major rebrand to support the future growth of the business and is now positioned as one of the UK’s leading specialist fabricators serving the construction and housebuilding industries.

2018

Adey SteelShop builds on its strengths within the housebuilder and residential sectors. Winning large scale contacts for the fabrication and installation of balcony structures, walk on balconies, stair balustrade contracts and structural steel packages.

 

2019

Adey SteelShop expanded their team to suit the growth in demand for their products and services. Product standardisation and investment in machinery to provide increase efficiency and quality help take their product offering from strength to strength.
